a change would do you good

“You change for two reasons: Either you learn enough that you want to, or you’ve been hurt enough that you have to.” -Unknown

tonight, i hopped in my car after work and drove from marin county over the richmond bridge to catch a seminar about daylighting in berkeley. as i cruised up gilman ave, a wave of nostalgia swept over me… plus the urge to check the locks on my car doors a million times. i booked it down the the poorly lit 10th avenue block into the metro lighting & crafts showroom on san pablo avenue only to find they already started the power-point lecture presentation. awesome.

the lecture was great; more like daylighting 101, similar to arch 140 i took at CAL 12 years ago (shit, i just aged myself! has it been that long already!?!) i realized tonight how much i missed berkeley since i graduated. it’s got that small town, hippie, health-nut, progressive feel to it. there are great eats around every corner (finding the hole-in-the-wall spots are the best); amazing weather – like the peninsula but hotter during the summers; yoga studios that have sprouted up like dandelions since i graduated: yoga tree, groove yoga, core pore yoga, yogakula – plus the dozens of other studios that pop up on a google search! berkeley’s also just across the bridge from the city, and close enough to family & friends. jeff & i have been talking about our plan to relocate closer to my job in san geronimo… and berkeley is just right!

i’m ready for a change of scenery. i’ve learned to not fear change, but to embrace it: a wedding, turning 30 (eek!), exploring new yoga horizons, talking about our hopes and dreams together; sharing our individual hopes and dreams with each other; having a family; making a home, and building our life together. ♥

i am so excited.

i’m ready for a new journey; a new adventure. i’m ready to face new obstacles head on and evolve from them.

no matter how many changes occur in my life, there are constants to keep me grounded who i can always count on: my family, friends & the love of my life; my yoga practice; my faith in God who has blessed me with so much in this world.

[raising my kombucha bottle] here’s to change: embracing and facing it head on. to all my friends: make your future. ride the wave of change. live life!

change is exciting.

change is inpiring.

change is empowering.

change is growth.

namaste.

manifesto for life.

This is your LIFE. Do what you love, and do it often. If you don’t like something, change it. If you don’t like your job, quit. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, all emotions are beautiful. LIFE IS SIMPLE. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities come once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating. Life is short. Live your dream, and wear your passion.

inspiring words to live by. i believe that in living by these words i will not only lead to a more genuine and passionate life, but have a more genuine relationship with others and with myself. what i’ve learned so far in my own life, is that richness is not found in material wealth. richness is found in the genuine connections that i make with people that come into my life – listening to their dreams and aspirations and sharing my own with them.
